Originally printed in 1928, this paperback book features 50+ pages of pencil sketches of antique French architecture by Samuel Chamberlain. This is a paperback copy of the limited-edition reprint from 1981, and is very hard to find elsewhere online.
The inside cover reads this: "Originally published in 1928, this long out-of-print collector's item is a superb series of sketches of small chateaux, farms, townhouses, cottages, manoirs, windmills, and gates. It retains Mr. Chamberlain's original foreword, providing interesting sidelights on his experiences in the hinterlands and crossroads and special features of the subjects' sketches . . . One would have to look hard to find a man better qualified than Samuel Chamberlain to make a sketchbook of this kind."
Please note this book does have some condition issues (small tears, bends, and corner wear), mainly on the front and back cover.
The inside pages are clean and in good condition, and could be scanned in for reprint as artwork or digital selling.
This is an excellent find and would be loved by anyone with a fondness for rural France or architectural history!
