The stitching on this vintage quilt is absolutely exquisite! It's hard to count exactly, but it appears to be 11 or 12 stitches per inch, along with a gorgeous scalloped quilted border.

The main fabric is a creamy white, and the blocks are various muted green, pink, blue, and light brown fabrics. The exact pattern is unknown; it appears to be a variation on the flying geese pattern.

The quilt is thin with little to no loft. The and front are made of muslin with cotton triangles.

It's well-suited for someone with a soft, muted decor style, as the colors are barely there.

It's being sold as-found and has not been washed.

It was purchased from a collector in Northwest Arkansas. Estimated date 1890 to 1910.

CONDITION

While not perfect in condition, this quilt is still quite usable and absolutely gorgeous. Most of the condition issues are due to the thin fabric wearing over time.

Please review all photos carefully!

Main condition issues include:

  • Worn through batting throughout the front colored pieces, mostly on the brown fabric. Virtually all brown/beige triangles are worn through
  • Two worn-through holes, one has been stitched shut
  • Yellowing along the fold lines and edges
  • Wear along some edges, one edge has tearing through
  • Thinning
