A true piece of history for your home! This quilt is thicker and charmingly colored, as well as completely hand-stitched!
The original pattern of this quilt is not exact, the blocks have a general "X" pattern but a few of them vary. The sashing is a light pink color with a few light yellow squares interspersed. The edge and backing is a light green.
Primary colors of this quilt are muted blues, pinks, greens, and light orange. However, there is one red piece that perhaps was added later as a replacement or repair.
The stitching is done in a very dark brown (possibly black) thread. The batting is wool.
CONDITION
This quilt is in overall good condition for its age. It is on the thicker side and the wool batting has gotten a bit lumpy. However the quilt is still soft and cuddly! There are areas of general discoloration along the corners and edges where the quilt was quite dirty, as well as one mature stain on the front. The green on the backside has faded and also has a few small stains. There are some worn spots on the front where the batting shows through as well as loose threads and one tear on the side.
When I found this quilt it was stiff and very dirty. I carefully hand-washed it twice and it is now soft, smells clean, and is ready to be used in your home.
The age of the quilt is unknown for certain, however I would estimate 1910's to 1920's. It was found in West Tennessee.
