If you like bold and saturated colors, this quilt is for you! It's all about fun and whimsy with this heavy-weight vintage quilt. With its bold colors and varying quilt block designs, it's a truly unique piece you can cherish for years to come.
The sashing on this quilt is a mid-tone blue with the quilt blocks featuring an array of other bold and bright colors. You'll find just about every color of the rainbow on this quilt!
The backing is brown cotton. This is a thicker quilt, suitable for the winter months.
The piecework on the quilt blocks was machine stitched, while the quilting was done by hand.
CONDITION
This quilt is in overall good condition for its age. I would rate it a B+. It was not washed because it is a thicker quilt and often those get lumpy after washing, or the weight of the wet quilt can cause the seams to tear. It has been aired out though and is soft to the touch.
It does have the following issues:
One quarter sized hole in the front and another smaller worn spot.
Wear around the edges in a few spots.
It appears this quilt may have been cut down to size at some point? The stitching along the edges is a bit off and some sides have a true hem while others are stitched together more roughly.
General area of staining on the front (as shown, circled in the photo). This is all along the fold line and is likely just dirt, dust, and other debris from the air settling on this quilt as it sat stored for many years. Again, I did not wash this quilt and some of this staining may be come out with a soaking and washing, if you choose to try that.
The age of the quilt is unknown for certain, however I would estimate 1960's. It was found in Southern Missouri.
