Stoneware Inkwell Bottles
Stoneware Inkwell Bottles
As ink became widely available in liquid form in the middle 1800's, mass produced ink bottles, or inkwells, were how this "Penny Ink" was sold to the average customer.
Glass inkwells were common, but stoneware bottles produced on pottery wheels were also made. Here you will find a lovely selection of stoneware ink bottles.
These were all sourced in the US so I cannot know for sure if they are English stoneware or not. They match in design other english stoneware bottles I have found, but these are unmarked.
Please note each bottle has its own unique charm and character! Some have cracks in the glaze, some a slightly off base, or small chips. These were utilitarian pieces that are likely 100+ years old! So a little wear is to be expected.
They range in size as well:
- Master Inkwell 4.5"
- Taller Inkwells 4"
- Medium Size 2.5 to 3"
- Short Inkwells 1.5"
- Cone Inkwell 2"
