Shoo Fly Vintage Quilt
Shoo Fly Vintage Quilt
A gorgeous quilt with mostly soft, muted colors, it will pair well with any cottage style decor. Perfect to accent a bed or soft and snuggly enough for everyday use!
The sashing on this quilt is a design of light purple circles with a brownish-gray border around the circles. The quilt blocks themselves are the shoo-fly pattern, and feature solid colors, plaids, and a few novelty fabrics. Most the colors are more muted but there are 2 blocks with a brighter orange and 2 blocks with a darker blue/purple.
The backing is white cotton muslin. I would say this quilt is low loft, light enough for spring use but also would provide some warmth for the winter.
The piecework on the quilt blocks was machine stitched, while the quilting was done by hand.
CONDITION
This quilt is in overall good condition for its age. I would rate it a B+. It has been soaked and rinsed and is soft and free of any odors.
It does have the following issues:
- 12 areas where the piecework has separated (a few examples shown in the photos)
- One noticeable stain on the front with a small hole behind it, one smaller stain in the sashing that is less noticeable
- One tear along the side binding
- 3 small stains on the back side
- Some shifting of the batting and thinned areas.
The age of the quilt is unknown for certain, however I would estimate 1950's. It was found in Southern Missouri.
SIZE
Approximately 76" by 64". It covers almost a full twin bed, or can be folded over the foot of a full or queen.
Please note I am not a quilt expert and have made every effort to describe this quilt accurately. It is a vintage item and will show age. Please review all photos carefully and message me with any additional questions or concerns you may have prior to purchase, as all sales are final. Thank you!
